What the site is
Kantan Health is a free directory of English-friendly clinics and hospitals in Japan, with guides about healthcare and health insurance in Japan. It is run by an individual based in Japan. It is not a medical provider and does not give medical advice. Please read our Medical Disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
Accuracy of information
We try to keep listings and guides accurate, but they are compiled from public sources and summarised with the help of AI tools, and details change often. We do not guarantee that any information on the site is complete, accurate or up to date, including opening hours, fees, insurance, services or the level of English a clinic offers. Always confirm details with the clinic before you visit.
No medical advice and no endorsement
Nothing on the site is medical advice. A listing does not mean we recommend or vouch for a provider. Decisions about your care are yours to make with a qualified professional. In an emergency in Japan, call 119.
Using the site
You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please do not:
- copy, scrape or republish listings or other content in bulk, or use them to build a competing directory or dataset, without our written permission;
- use automated tools in a way that overloads the site or interferes with other visitors;
- try to get unauthorised access to the site, its server or other users’ accounts;
- post comments that are unlawful, abusive, misleading, spam, or that include other people’s personal or medical information.
We may remove comments and close bookmark accounts that break these rules.
Bookmarks accounts
If you use bookmarks, you are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, because sign-in links are sent there. You can ask us to delete your account at any time. How we handle your email address is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Links to other websites
The site links to clinics, hospitals and other websites that we do not control, including partner services such as Jozu, SafetyWing, Wise and italki. We are not responsible for their content, products or services. Some of these are referral links, and we may earn a fee if you sign up through them at no extra cost to you.
Intellectual property
The site’s design, text and guides belong to Kantan Health or are used with permission. Clinic names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. You may link to any page on the site and quote short extracts with a link back.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided free and “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, Kantan Health is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from relying on its content, including any decision you make about medical care, a clinic or a partner service. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the laws of Japan, including under the Consumer Contract Act.

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
