UNO CLINIC
UNO CLINIC (宇野医院) is a neighborhood internal medicine clinic in Nakano, one of Tokyo’s more livable, less tourist-y wards. It’s the kind of place locals actually use — not a flashy international clinic, just a functioning general practice for everyday health issues: colds, chronic conditions, checkups, referrals.
The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a better sign than nothing, but don’t assume you’ll walk in and have a smooth English consultation. This is almost certainly a Japanese-primary environment. If your Japanese is basic or nonexistent, bring a translation app, a bilingual friend, or prepare written notes about your symptoms beforehand.
That said, Nakano is accessible and the clinic appears to be a genuine community practice — not overwhelmed by tourist volume, probably manageable wait times, and worth considering if you live in the area and need a reliable GP-style setup for non-emergency internal medicine needs.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback is limited in English-language sources, which tracks for a local neighborhood clinic in Nakano. The general picture is a small, community-focused practice — likely shorter wait times than larger hospital outpatient departments, and a more personal feel than chain clinics. Expect a fairly traditional Japanese GP experience: efficient, not chatty, focused on the presenting issue. Don’t expect extended back-and-forth if there’s a language gap.
