Umezawa Iin is a neighborhood internal medicine clinic in Taito-ku, tucked into the Senzoku area — a quiet residential pocket that most expats don’t end up in unless they actually live nearby. It’s a small, established clinic under a medical corporation, which usually means a bit more structure than a solo GP practice. The focus is general internal medicine: think chronic conditions, checkups, colds, referrals.

The website has some English content, which is a decent sign, but that doesn’t automatically translate to a smooth English-language visit. Reception and actual consultations are almost certainly going to lean heavily Japanese. If you’re coming here, bring a translation app, have your symptoms written down in Japanese if possible, and don’t expect bilingual hand-holding. That said, Taito-ku has a fair number of long-term foreign residents, so the staff may have more experience with non-Japanese patients than a clinic in a less diverse area.
