  • Orthodontics and general dentistry
  • Near central Tokyo
  • Takadanobaba Shika Kyouseishika is a general and orthodontic dental clinic tucked into the basement of the Vessel Inn hotel, right in front of Takadanobaba Station in Shinjuku. That location is genuinely convenient — you’re stepping off the Yamanote or Tozai line and heading underground before you’ve had time to talk yourself out of the appointment.

They cover the full range: cleanings, fillings, extractions, and orthodontics including braces and clear aligners. The staff have conversational English, which means you can get through a consultation, describe your symptoms, and understand the treatment plan without resorting to frantic Google Translate sessions. It’s not bilingual-clinic-level fluency, but it’s enough to make the visit functional rather than stressful.

Good option if you’re living or working in the Takadanobaba or Waseda area and want a neighborhood dentist who won’t make you feel like a communication problem to be solved.

    Patient Feedback

Patients tend to mention that the clinic runs fairly on schedule — not always the case in Tokyo dental offices. The dentists are described as thorough explainers, which matters when you’re trying to follow a treatment plan in your second language. The basement location feels clean and modern, not cramped. A few patients note the English is helpful enough to get through appointments without stress, though complex conversations still take some patience on both sides.

    English Language Proficiency

Reception and at least some of the clinical staff have working conversational English — enough to handle intake questions, explain procedures, and walk through billing. Don't expect everything to flow perfectly if you have a complicated case or lots of detailed questions, but routine visits and orthodontic consultations are manageable. Forms are primarily in Japanese, so having your name and address written out in Japanese characters beforehand saves time. A translation app as backup is never a bad idea.
