Sumire Clinic
Sumire Clinic is a pediatrics practice in Fuchu, a residential western Tokyo city that’s home to plenty of families, including expats working near Tachikawa or commuting into central Tokyo. The clinic sits on the ground floor of the Wisteria F building in Kitamachi — a quiet neighborhood setup, not a big hospital complex.
Their website has some English content, which suggests they’ve thought about international patients at least a little. But “some English online” doesn’t automatically mean smooth English communication at reception or during appointments. This is a Japanese-run neighborhood clinic, and the experience will almost certainly be primarily in Japanese. If your kid is sick and you’re not confident in Japanese, bring a translation app, a bilingual friend, or prep some written notes in Japanese before you go.
That said, for expat parents in the Fuchu area, options for pediatric English care are genuinely limited — and a local clinic that at least acknowledges international patients is worth knowing about.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback points to a generally calm, neighborhood-clinic atmosphere — not overcrowded, not rushed. Doctors appear thorough with younger patients, which matters when your kid can’t fully describe their own symptoms. Wait times seem reasonable by Tokyo pediatric standards. No strong reports of English-fluent staff, but the clinic doesn’t appear unwelcoming to foreign families either. Expect standard Japanese clinic paperwork and a consultation that moves quickly.
English Language Proficiency
For translating forms, prescriptions, or discharge summaries, Jozu is worth having on your phone.
