Nihonbashi Station (Tozai Line) — 2 min walk
  • Central Chuo location
  • Near central Tokyo
  • Shinoda Shika is a small dental clinic tucked into the first floor of the Fukuda Building in Nihonbashi Yokoyamacho, a busy commercial pocket of Chuo Ward. It’s the kind of neighborhood dentist that locals rely on for routine stuff — cleanings, fillings, the basics — rather than a specialist destination.

The website has some English-facing content, which is a decent sign, but don’t assume you’ll walk in and have a fully English consultation. The reality is probably somewhere between “they’ve handled foreign patients before” and “bring your phone for backup.” No confirmed English-speaking staff on record.

Location-wise, you’re well-placed — Chuo is central, and Hamacho or Bakurocho stations are both close. Good if you’re working or living in the east-central part of the city and want somewhere convenient rather than somewhere that specifically caters to expats.

Straightforward dental care in a central location. Manage your expectations on English, and you’ll probably be fine.

    Patient Feedback

Patient feedback points to a no-frills neighborhood practice — efficient appointments, reasonable wait times, and a dentist who focuses on the work without a lot of hand-holding. Regulars seem to appreciate the consistency. It’s not a boutique experience, but people come back, which says something. No strong reports of issues, but also no standout praise for anything beyond competent, functional dental care.

    English Language Proficiency

The website includes some English content, which at minimum means they're aware foreign patients exist. But that's different from having a bilingual receptionist or English intake forms. Realistically, you should prepare for a mostly Japanese interaction. A translation app like Google Translate or DeepL will do a lot of heavy lifting here. If your dental needs are routine and you can communicate basics, you'll likely manage. Complex treatment discussions would be harder without Japanese support.
