OGAWA Eye Clinic
OGAWA Eye Clinic sits on the 3rd floor of the Keio Seiseki-Sakuragaoka East Exit Building — so if you’re coming from the station, you’re basically already there. It’s a standard Japanese ophthalmology clinic covering the usual bases: vision checks, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, and general eye health. Nothing flashy, just solid eye care in a residential part of western Tokyo.
For English speakers, you’re not going to get a fully bilingual experience, but the staff have conversational English and there are some English resources available. That puts it a step above the average neighborhood eye clinic where you’d be entirely on your own. A translation app as backup is still a smart call, especially if your situation is complicated or you have lots of questions.
Tama City doesn’t have a huge expat scene, but if you live out that way along the Keio line — or work nearby — this is a genuinely usable option without having to trek into central Tokyo just to get your eyes checked.
Patient Feedback
Patients tend to describe a no-fuss, efficient experience — typical of a well-run Japanese neighborhood eye clinic. Wait times can stretch during busy periods, so arriving early or calling ahead helps. Doctors are thorough on the clinical side. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll have a long back-and-forth conversation, but you leave knowing what’s going on with your eyes and what to do next.
