Mita Ganka

Mita Ganka is a small ophthalmology clinic on the ground floor of the Shiba Torohachi Building in Minato’s Shiba neighborhood. It handles the full range of eye care — glasses and contact lens prescriptions, glaucoma screening, cataracts, dry eye — the kind of place locals go for both routine checkups and ongoing conditions.

The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a decent sign, but don’t expect a fully bilingual experience. Reception staff may have limited English, so bringing a translation app or a Japanese-speaking friend for anything complex is smart. For a straightforward prescription or basic exam, you could probably navigate it with pantomime and Google Translate. For something serious, prepare more carefully.

It’s a neighborhood clinic, not a hospital eye department — shorter waits, more personal, less chaos. The Shiba area is walkable from Mita and Tamachi stations, so access is easy from much of central Tokyo.
