Kagurazaka Station (Tozai Line) — 2 min walk
  • Conversational English confirmed
  • Near central Tokyo
  • Kurasawa Clinic sits on the 6th floor of a building in Kagurazaka, one of Shinjuku’s more pleasant neighborhoods — cobblestone lanes, French bistros, generally not chaotic. That’s a nice bonus when you’re already stressed about a skin thing.

It’s a dermatology-only clinic, so don’t come here for anything else. Skin conditions, rashes, acne, moles — that’s the territory. The staff has conversational English, which means you can get through an appointment without pulling out Google Translate every 30 seconds. Some English resources are available too, so the experience isn’t entirely in Japanese.

This isn’t a foreigner-specialist clinic, but it’s not unwelcoming either. You’ll likely be fine if your condition is something you can point to and describe in basic terms. Complex medical history conversations might hit a wall, but for most skin visits, the language gap is manageable. Kagurazaka Station is right there, which makes getting in and out easy.

    Patient Feedback

Patients tend to find the clinic calm and not overwhelming — Kagurazaka has a quieter feel than central Shinjuku. The dermatologist is described as thorough and attentive rather than rushing people out the door. Wait times are generally reasonable for Tokyo. People seem to appreciate that it’s a focused practice — just dermatology, no sprawling general clinic chaos. The 6th floor location is easy to miss, so check the building directory when you arrive.

    English Language Proficiency

Reception has conversational English — enough to handle check-in, basic symptom questions, and scheduling without a crisis. The doctor can communicate in English at a functional level, though highly technical back-and-forth may slow things down. Some English materials are available in the clinic. If your concern is visual — a rash, a mole, a patch of dry skin — you'll get through the appointment fine. For complex ongoing conditions with detailed history, bring a bilingual friend or prepare notes in Japanese just in case.
