Kojima Shika

Kojima Shika is a neighborhood dental clinic sitting on the ground floor of a small building in Minami-Tokiwadai, Itabashi. This is a residential part of northwest Tokyo — not a lot of expats, not a lot of English signage on the streets. The clinic has some English on its website, which is a decent sign, but don’t book expecting a fully bilingual experience. It’s almost certainly a Japanese-first practice where the dentist may have basic English but fluent conversation isn’t guaranteed. That said, dentistry is one of those specialties where language matters less than you’d think — a lot of it is pointing, opening your mouth, and nodding. Standard dental work, checkups, cleaning, and likely cosmetic options are all on the table. If you live in Itabashi or Nerima and want a proper local dentist rather than trekking to central Tokyo, this is worth investigating. Bring Google Translate, know your dental vocabulary in Japanese if you can, and call ahead to feel out the English situation before committing.
