Kawada ShikaIin is a neighborhood dental clinic sitting on the ground floor of the Sugita Building in Minami-Karasuyama, Setagaya. This is solidly residential Tokyo — not the expat-heavy central wards — so walk-in foreigners are probably a rarity here. The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a decent sign, but whether that translates to a smooth English-speaking experience at the front desk or in the chair is genuinely unclear. Don’t bank on fluent English conversation. That said, dentistry is one of those specialties where you can get pretty far with pointing, a translation app, and a dentist who’s seen a worried face before. Standard dental services — checkups, cleaning, fillings, the usual — appear to be the focus. If you’re living in Setagaya and need a local dentist without trekking into central Tokyo, this is worth a call. Just go in with realistic expectations on language.
