Inage Eye Clinic sits on the 3rd floor of the Houden Building in Takadanobaba, one of the more foreigner-friendly neighborhoods in Shinjuku. It’s a standard ophthalmology setup — eye exams, contact lens fittings, glaucoma checks, that kind of thing — run by a small team that can hold a basic conversation in English. Don’t expect fluent medical English, but you won’t be completely on your own either. They have some English materials available, which takes the edge off if your Japanese is nonexistent. The clinic is close to Takadanobaba Station, so access is easy whether you’re coming from central Tokyo or further out. It’s a neighborhood eye clinic, not a hospital eye department — meaning shorter waits and a more personal feel, but you’re not getting subspecialty surgical care here. Good for routine stuff: prescription checks, dry eye, mild infections, contact lens consultations. If you need something complex, they’ll refer you out.
