Ikedaya Shika sits in Omori Kita, a residential pocket of Ota Ward that most expats only pass through on the Keikyu line. It’s a neighborhood dental clinic — not a tourist-facing international practice — so walk in expecting a Japanese dental experience first and foremost. The website has some English content, which suggests they’ve thought about non-Japanese patients at least a little, but don’t assume the front desk will comfortably handle a full conversation in English. Bring your phone with a translation app ready, or have a Japanese-speaking friend on standby for the first visit paperwork. That said, dentistry is dentistry — once you’re in the chair, language becomes less of a barrier. Good for routine checkups, cleanings, and standard dental work if you’re based in Ota and don’t want to trek to central Tokyo for every appointment.
