Hatagaya Shika
Hatagaya Shika is a small dental clinic sitting on the second floor of the Ozawa Building in Hatagaya, a quiet residential pocket of Shibuya Ward that most expats walk straight past on their way to busier neighborhoods. It’s a general dentistry practice covering the usual range — cleanings, fillings, crowns, extractions, and basic cosmetic work.
The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a decent sign, but don’t book expecting a fully bilingual experience. Reception and chair-side communication in English is unclear. If your Japanese is minimal, bring a translation app and write down your symptoms beforehand. Google Translate’s camera mode will help with any paperwork.
That said, being in Shibuya Ward means it’s reasonably accessible, and Hatagaya Station on the Keio New Line is essentially at the door. For expats living in western Shibuya or nearby Nakameguro and Sasazuka, this is a genuinely convenient option worth knowing about.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback points to a calm, unhurried atmosphere — this isn’t a high-volume clinic rushing people through. Dentists tend to explain what they’re doing before they do it, which nervous patients appreciate. Wait times appear reasonable. The second-floor location in a small building means the setup is simple and unfussy. No reports of major communication breakthroughs in English, but nothing catastrophic either.
