FUNAKI Eye Clinic is a neighborhood ophthalmology clinic tucked into a residential stretch of Kita Ward, near Kami-Jujo Station on the Saikyo Line. It’s a small, local practice — the kind that’s been serving the same community for years rather than chasing international patients. They handle the full range of eye care: vision checks, glaucoma screening, cataracts, dry eye, and general complaints.

The website has some English content, which is a decent sign, but don’t walk in expecting a bilingual front desk. This is almost certainly a Japanese-primary clinic. If your Japanese is limited, bring a translation app and write down your symptoms beforehand. That said, ophthalmology has an advantage — a lot of the diagnostic work is visual and equipment-based, so communication barriers are less brutal than in, say, psychiatry or internal medicine.

Good option if you’re living in Kita Ward and need routine eye care without trekking to central Tokyo. Not the place for complex cases requiring detailed English-language consultation.
