Azuma Naika Shonika

Azuma Naika Shonika is an internal medicine and pediatrics clinic sitting on the ground floor of a building in Narihira, Sumida — close enough to Oshiage and the Skytree area that it’s genuinely convenient if you’re based in that part of east Tokyo. It handles the everyday stuff: colds, checkups, chronic condition management, kids’ ailments.

The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a decent sign, but whether that translates to English-speaking staff at reception is genuinely unclear. Don’t bank on smooth English communication without backup. Bring a translation app, have your symptoms typed out in Japanese if you can, and don’t assume the forms will be bilingual. That said, plenty of expats navigate Japanese clinics like this every day — it’s manageable, just not plug-and-play.

It’s a neighborhood clinic, not an international hospital. If you need a nearby GP-style setup and live in Sumida or the Oshiage area, it’s worth knowing about.
