Aoi Ganka is a small ophthalmology clinic tucked into a residential part of Ota Ward, on the second floor of a low-key building in Haginaka. It handles the full range of eye care — checkups, glasses and contact prescriptions, dry eye, glaucoma screening, and more. Not a hospital ophthalmology department with three-hour waits; this is a neighborhood clinic where appointments move at a reasonable pace.

For English speakers, the situation is workable. Staff have conversational English, so you’re not going in blind with only a translation app. Don’t expect full clinical consultations in fluent English, but basic communication — symptoms, instructions, follow-up — gets handled. Some English materials are available too.

Location-wise, Ota Ward isn’t the most expat-dense part of Tokyo, but if you live in the south or southwest of the city, this is a solid local option rather than trekking to central Tokyo for something routine. Good for expats in Kamata, Omori, or nearby neighborhoods who need eye care without the language barrier panic.
