TOKYO ROUSAI Hospital
Tokyo Rousai Hospital is a large government-affiliated occupational health hospital in Ota Ward, south Tokyo. The dermatology department sits inside a full-service hospital — so you’re not walking into a cozy clinic. Expect hospital-scale everything: registration queues, multiple departments, the works. It’s run by JOHAS (Japan Organization of Occupational Health and Safety), which means it skews toward workers and workplace-related conditions, but general dermatology cases are seen too.
English capability is genuinely unclear. The hospital has some English content on its website, but that doesn’t mean the dermatology desk speaks English. Bring a translation app, a Japanese-speaking friend, or a medical interpreter if you have access to one. Don’t assume someone will be there to guide you through in English. That said, the hospital infrastructure is solid, and as a public institution it’s not going to turn you away.
Located near Omori in Ota — not the most central part of Tokyo, but reachable.
Patient Feedback
Being a government hospital, it runs on a number-ticket, wait-your-turn system — budget at least a couple of hours for your first visit. Doctors tend to be thorough and clinically focused, which is typical for hospital-affiliated departments. The environment is functional rather than comfortable. Patients generally get proper diagnoses, but the experience is bureaucratic. Don’t expect hand-holding or lengthy explanations unprompted.
