Shiokawa ladies clinic
Shiokawa Ladies Clinic is a gynecology-only practice on the third floor of Faro Building in Kichijoji, one of Tokyo’s most livable and foreigner-friendly neighborhoods. It handles the standard range of women’s health needs — regular checkups, contraception, menstrual issues, early pregnancy care — in a smaller, quieter setting than a hospital OB/GYN department.
The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a decent sign, but don’t assume you’ll walk in and have a fully English consultation. The reality is probably a mixed bag: basic communication may be manageable, but anything nuanced — symptoms, medical history, treatment options — will go smoother if you bring a Japanese-speaking friend or lean on a translation app. Kichijoji itself is well-connected and easy to navigate, which at least takes the stress out of getting there.
Good for: women in the Musashino/Kichijoji area who need routine gynecological care and are comfortable navigating some language friction.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback points to a calm, unhurried atmosphere — smaller clinic means shorter wait times than larger hospital OB departments. Doctors tend to be thorough with explanations. The clientele is mostly local Japanese women, so the environment is quiet and professional rather than expat-oriented. No strong pattern of complaints about dismissiveness, which matters in gynecology. Not a lot of international patient reviews to draw from.
