Kiba Byoin
Kiba Byoin is a dermatology hospital sitting in the residential backstreets of Kiba, eastern Tokyo — not a flashy clinic, but a proper hospital-scale facility that’s been serving this neighborhood for years. It covers the full range of skin conditions: acne, eczema, psoriasis, allergic reactions, and more involved cases that a smaller clinic might punt on.
Their website has some English content, which is a good sign, but don’t assume you’ll walk in and have a fully bilingual experience. Reception and nurses are almost certainly Japanese-only. That said, dermatology is one of those specialties where showing the doctor your skin does a lot of the talking. A translation app and some pre-written notes about your symptoms will get you surprisingly far here.
Kiba itself is a quiet, low-key part of Koto ward — easy to get to on the Tokyo Metro Tōzai Line. Not the most international neighborhood, so this isn’t a clinic built around expat patients, but if you live or work in the area and need solid dermatological care, it’s worth knowing about.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback is thin online in English, which tracks for a neighborhood hospital in a non-expat area. Japanese reviewers generally describe it as competent and thorough — doctors take time to explain diagnoses rather than rushing you out. Wait times can run long, especially on weekday mornings. It’s a hospital, not a boutique clinic, so expect functional rather than fancy. Bring patience and a number ticket.
