JIUNDO HOSPITAL
Jiundo Hospital is a full-service hospital in Nerima’s Sekimachi area, a quieter residential pocket of western Tokyo that most expats don’t end up unless they live nearby. The internal medicine department handles the standard range: checkups, chronic conditions, referrals, that kind of thing. It’s a proper hospital rather than a small clinic, so expect more infrastructure but also more bureaucracy.
English capability is genuinely unclear. Their website has some English-facing content, which is a decent sign, but that doesn’t guarantee reception staff can walk you through registration or that forms come in English. If you’re not comfortable in Japanese, bring a translation app or a Japanese-speaking friend on your first visit. Once you’re in the system, repeat visits tend to be smoother.
For expats living in Nerima or nearby Suginami, this is a practical local option for internal medicine without trekking into central Tokyo. Don’t expect an international clinic experience — this is a community hospital doing community hospital things.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback points to a functional, no-frills hospital experience. Wait times can run long during peak hours, as is typical for Japanese hospitals without appointment slots. Doctors are generally thorough, and the facility feels organized. It’s not a warm, hand-holding experience — more efficient and clinical. Patients who come prepared with Japanese documentation or a translation app report fewer friction points at reception.
