Fuchu Shinryojo
Fuchu Shinryojo is an orthopedic clinic in Fuchu City, western Tokyo, run under the Kenseikai medical corporation. It handles the bread-and-butter orthopedic stuff — joint pain, back problems, sports injuries, post-fracture rehab. The clinic has some English content on its website, which is a decent sign, but don’t assume that means fluent English staff are waiting at the front desk. Reality is probably patchy at best. Bring a translation app, have your symptoms written out in Japanese if possible, and don’t expect an English-language intake form. That said, Fuchu is a fairly international area with a sizable expat population, so staff here likely have more experience with non-Japanese patients than a rural clinic would. It’s a community-level clinic, not a big hospital — expect a neighborhood feel, reasonable wait times compared to major city hospitals, and doctors who are generalist orthopedic rather than highly specialized. Good for ongoing musculoskeletal issues or getting a referral sorted. Not the place for complex spinal surgery consultations.
Patient Feedback
Patient feedback points to a typical community orthopedic setup — manageable wait times compared to larger hospitals, doctors who take time to explain diagnoses, and a generally calm atmosphere. It’s not a fast-in-fast-out place. Staff seem familiar with repeat patients, which gives it a local clinic feel. No strong reports of exceptional English service, but also no horror stories. Standard Japanese clinic experience overall.
