Akiru shika
Akiru Shika is a neighborhood dental clinic sitting on the first floor of KI Mansion in Akiru-no City, on the western edge of Tokyo. It’s not in the city center — Akiru-no is quiet, suburban, and a long way from Shinjuku — but if you live out this way, finding a dentist who can communicate in English is genuinely useful.
The clinic covers standard dental work: cleanings, fillings, extractions, crowns, and general oral care. Staff have conversational English, which means you can get through an appointment without miming a toothache. Don’t expect fluent clinical English, but basic back-and-forth on symptoms, treatment plans, and billing should be manageable.
The website is in Japanese, so booking ahead in English may require a quick email or phone call to confirm availability. Worth doing. If you’re an expat settled in western Tokyo and need a local dentist you can actually talk to, this is a practical option.
Patient Feedback
Patients tend to describe the clinic as calm and unhurried — the kind of place where the dentist actually explains what they’re doing before drilling. Wait times are generally reasonable for a neighborhood practice. The setting is small and unfussy, which some people find reassuring and others find basic. No complaints about pain management. Appointments feel thorough rather than rushed. Not a flashy clinic, but consistent and competent.
